Denpasar 2021 August 30

Jakarta: The Indonesian Archery Board (PB Perpani) conducts the national athlete selection (selection) for the preparation of the Sea Games which will take place in Vietanam in 2022. The selection will be held at the GBK Archery Venue Senayan Central Jakarta on Saturday/Sunday 28-29 August 2021, which will be attended by 32  athletes from various regions.

Prior to the National Selection, the athletes had also implemented health protocols in accordance with applicable regulations.

According to the Head of the Promotion and Public Relations Bureau of PERPANI, Asril Sadikin, the calling of athletes to take part in the national selection was based on previous achievements through virtual selection.

The current pandemic era requires the creativity of sports management to be creative, one of which is through online (virtual) selection.

Specifically, those who take part in the national selection, apart from being athletes from the national training, they are the best ranking results from the virtual selection some time ago, said Iksan Ingratubun, Manager of the Archery National Team.

After two days of fighting by releasing a total of 354 arrows, 2 male athletes and 1 female athlete in the compound division succeeded in displacing the previous occupants of the national training.  They are Hendika Pratama Putra (Central Java), Kadek Dian Vanagozi (Bali), Ratih Zilizati Fadhly (West Java).  All three were able to displace the dominance of the national training athletes, Danang, Baihaqi Mustafa Surya A and Munawaroh.

With this objective, transparent and competitive selection system, it is hoped that 6 athletes will be selected and 2 athletes who will receive wild cards will be able to represent Indonesia in the 2022 Sea Games and Asian Games.  For that, we ask all athletes who pass to show attitude, mentality, and continue to fight to achieve the highest achievement.  "Then following a series of national training camps (pelatnas) in preparation for representing the Indonesian Archery national team for the world championships, Sea Games and Asian Games," said Iksan when delivering his remarks at the closing of the National Selection.

From the results of the national selection this time, PERPANI decided eight athletes to take part in the national training.

Besides 6 athletes who are ranked 1 to 3, there are also 5th and 6th male/female positions as reserves who are ready to fill the Pelatnas slot if needed.  They are I Gusti Nyoman Puruhito (Papua), Danang (Banten/Pelatnas), Tiara Sakti Ramadhani (East Java), Yurike Nina Bonita Parera (East Java).

There was something interesting during the National Selection.  The presence of RM Gusti Fazli Kertinegoro, a 14 year old athlete in grade 9 (3 SMP) Thursina, Malang, representing Bali.

Gusti's appearance was enough to steal the audience's attention, his cute and innocent face seemed no burden for him in dealing with senior athletes, some of whom had even been poor across the international arena.

"My target is only to increase flight hours and experience. To qualify as a Pelatnas resident there is still no idea, maybe in the junior or second-tier group, God willing, uncle," said Gusti, who is also the son of Infitar Fajar Putra.

Gusti is one of the young athletes who was born from the coaching of the Club and Pengprov.  The growth of clubs that are increasingly mushrooming has an impact on the sport of archery in attracting athletes who are ready to be developed into national athletes who are ready to triumph in the future.
